Cadbury Dairy Milk has added an Iced Latte variant in a wrapper that changes colour when chilled.
The new tablet (rsp: £2/122.5g) features a coffee-flavoured cream centre with digestive biscuit pieces, encased in classic Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate.
Meanwhile, the wrapper – which features a graphic of the white outline of a mug and straw with a coffee-coloured swirl – has been made using thermochromic technology, so an ice-blue swirl is revealed on the design when it is chilled in the fridge.
Using the same technology, Cadbury has rolled out four limited-edition “chill to reveal” designs across its core Dairy Milk 110g tablets (rsp: £2/110g).
Each is reflective of “a traditional British summer”: featuring a deckchair, parasol, kite or flamingo inflatable. Retailers can purchase a mixed case containing all four designs.
The special edition packs were intended to ignite a debate about where to store chocolate over the summer months, said Cadbury.
They would remind consumers “that chocolate is a great snacking option in the warmer weather”, said Cadbury Dairy Milk junior brand manager Mara Popa.
“Additionally, our limited-edition Cadbury Dairy Milk Iced Latte tablet is designed to excite consumers with a brand-new flavour crafted for summer.”
The launch will be supported by digital and in-store activations, asking consumers to “chill to reveal”.
